This year, United Help Ukraine took part in organizing, sponsoring, and presenting at the 1st Annual Ukraine Freedom Summit in Washington, DC. This summit organized by Borderlands Ukraine and partners aimed to connect the two greatest defense communities to strategize and secure peace in Ukraine, while also raising support for veterans and rehabilitative care for PTSD.
Our President, Maryna Baydyuk presented opening remarks at the U.S.-Ukraine Veterans Forum, focusing on support for veterans in Ukraine. She emphasized the importance of a systemic approach to rehabilitation, which includes early rehabilitation, psychological assistance, prosthetics, adaptive sports, and social integration. During the panel discussion ”Veterans Rehabilitation”, Dr. Anna Yabluchanska, UHU’s Medical Aid Program Director, presented our new rehabilitation project in Ukraine, called Reboot, which aims to help Ukrainian veterans receive comprehensive assistance.
Day 1: U.S.-Ukraine Defense Forum 🇺🇸🇺🇦 Our summit kicked off with a powerful start, fostering deeper ties between the U.S. and Ukraine. Together, we explored tactical and technological innovations crucial for winning the war and securing lasting peace in Ukraine. The collaborative spirit and insightful discussions were truly inspiring.
Day 2: U.S.-Ukraine Veterans Forum 🎖️ We delved into the challenges and triumphs of empowering Ukraine’s veterans for successful societal reintegration. With a special focus on mental health and PTSD, we addressed policy, healthcare, and support systems vital for our heroes. The forum was a testament to our commitment to those who have sacrificed so much. Learn more about our Wounded Warrior initiative.
Day 3: U.S.-Ukraine Veterans Charity Golf Tournament⛳️ The summit concluded with a heartwarming golf tournament, uniting veterans through sports and camaraderie. Proceeds from this event will support PTSD treatment and rehabilitation programs for war veterans in Ukraine. It was a day of honor, support, and solidarity.
