We were proud to welcome another group of Ukraine’s defenders to take part in the first-ever Warrior YOMP in the USA!
YOMP stands for “Your Own Marching Pace” — a challenging 50-mile hike completed within 24 hours, at each participant’s own rhythm and endurance level.
Our Ukrainian defenders had a busy pre-YOMP day with the United Help Ukraine team:
– Joined our booth at the Women’s Memorial and Expo
– Attended an inspiring reception at Amazon.com Headquarters
We were honored that the voice, resilience, and strength of Ukraine’s defenders will be represented at tomorrow’s YOMP.
Cheer for our brave warriors and support our Wounded Warrior Program — helping more wounded defenders receive hope, healing, and high-quality physical and mental rehabilitation.
Stand with those who stand for justice, freedom, and life itself.
Thank you to the Allied Forces Foundation for organizing this event and for sharing our mission to support wounded veterans and bring hope to them.
On Veterans Day weekend in Washington, D.C., our Yomp team — 9 wounded Ukrainian warriors and Major General Volodymyr Havrylov — took on Warrior Yomp 2025, a grueling 24-hour endurance march covering 25–50 miles / 40–80 km . This challenge tests the limits of resilience while honoring the veteran community.
United Help Ukraine was an official sponsor of the team in partnership with Allied Forces Foundation and Amazon.com, and we are deeply grateful to the Embassy of Ukraine in the USA / Посольство України в США for their support of this trip and their continued partnership in supporting Ukrainian veterans, including their physical and mental recovery through our Wounded Warrior Project.
By completing distances of 25, 36, and 50 miles, these heroes demonstrated extraordinary courage, determination, and camaraderie — while raising Ukraine’s voice on the global stage.
Ukrainian veterans took on the challenge with incredible courage and determination — showing resilience and achieving outstanding results:
Thank you to everyone who joined us to cheer on the Ukrainian heroes and who supports our Wounded Warriors Project.

This Veterans Day, we honored all who have served — at home and abroad — and remember those who gave everything in the fight for freedom.
According to The New York Times, since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale war, thousands of Americans have stood shoulder to shoulder with Ukraine, bravely defending our shared values of liberty, freedom, and just peace.
At least 92 Americans have made the ultimate sacrifice — giving their lives for a cause greater than themselves. Their courage and dedication will never be forgotten.
We are deeply grateful to all who have served — and to those who gave their lives for freedom — as well as to their families and loved ones.
Ukraine’s Warrior YOMP team met Ambassador Olga Stefanishyna on Veterans Day at the Embassy of Ukraine in the USA / Посольство України в США after completing the first-ever Warrior YOMP in the United States! Ukrainian veterans successfully completed a grueling 24-hour endurance march covering 25–50 miles (40–80 km).
During the meeting, Madam Ambassador and the wounded warriors discussed the importance of advocacy for Ukraine, standing for Ukraine’s veterans, and supporting programs that provide both physical and psychological rehabilitation.
The leader of the Ukraine Warrior YOMP team, Major General (ret.) Volodymyr Havrylov — a recipient of the U.S. Legion of Merit on behalf of President Donald Trump in 2019, who served as Ukraine’s Defense Attaché in Washington from 2015 to 2018 and later as Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine — highlighted the importance of the Ukraine–U.S. partnership, including the impact of veterans support programs such as United Help Ukraine’s Wounded Warrior Project.
Major General Borys Kremenetsky, Defense Attaché of the Embassy of Ukraine in the USA, offered words of encouragement and gratitude to the Ukrainian veterans and dedicated time to guide the team through the history and future perspectives of Ukraine–U.S. relations, partnership, and shared values.
Special thanks to Ambassador Olga Stefanishyna for taking the time to meet with Ukraine’s veterans and to the Embassy of Ukraine in the USA / Посольство України в США for organizing this important meeting and for their continued support of the Ukrainian-American community and the growing partnership between Ukraine and the United States.

The military term "YOMP" is Royal Marines slang that describes a long-distance, strenuous loaded march while carrying heavy equipment across difficult terrain. The term's original meaning is unclear, and despite popular backronyms like "Your Own Marching Pace," the text explicitly states there is no evidence that it originated as an acronym.
The "Your Own Marching Pace" (YOMP) challenge is vital for veterans because it transforms a core military activity—ruck marching—into a personalized and supportive experience that fosters spiritual and mental resilience. Ultimately, it serves to support their physical and mental recovery through the Wounded Warrior Program and raise Ukraine’s voice on the global stage.
The Royal Marines yomped 56 miles (90 km) across East Falkland in three days, carrying heavy loads in harsh weather conditions during the Falklands War.
The Veterans Day is celebrated on November 11th because it marks the end of World War I, when the armistice was signed, and hostilities ceased at the "eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month" in 1918.
