United Help Ukraine was honored to participate in yesterdays rally commemorating the 32nd Independence Day of Ukraine. Organized by US Ukrainian Activists, We began with a mass rally in front of the White House with an emotional performance of the national anthem of Ukraine sung by honored Ukrainian artist Volodymyr Sukhin.
Prominent leaders of Ukrainian organizations in the United States, including our own President of United Help Ukraine, Maryna Baydyuk, addressed the crowd to thank the American people for their support, talk about the current needs to help Ukraine achieve victory, celebrate the unity of Ukrainians across the world, and pray for those that are suffering as a result of this brutal war.
We thank Ambassador Oksana Markarova and the Embassy of Ukraine in the USA / Посольство України в США, President of US Ukrainian Activists Nadiya Shaporynska, Director of Ukrainian Congress Committee of America Michael Sawkiw, President of the U.S.-Ukraine Foundation Nadia McConnell, representative of Razom for Ukraine Doug Klain, Father Frv Steliac of Saint Andrews Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral of Metropolitan Washington DC, Father Robert Ukrainian Catholic National Shrine of the Holy Family, Father Alexander of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church-Holy Trinity, Diana Vidutis of the Lithuanian Americans and Allies for Democracy, Yaromyr Oryshkevych of Ukrainian American Veterans, Journalist and Activist Benjamin Wittes, Ivanka Soloviova of the Humanitarian center of St Andrew Ukrainian Church, representative of the DC Belarusian community Denis Baranov, and representative of American Georgians for Progress Ghia Lomaya for joining us to address the hundreds of people who gathered to honor the fight for freedom that continues to define the resilient spirit of the nation of Ukraine to this day.
The rally continued with a March through DC, where we shouted through the streets calling for support to Ukraine. At the Taras Shevchenko Monument, the program proceeded with an inspiring performance of poetry by children from the local Ukrainian School and a unique musical composition by U-generation and their fellow musicians.
We thank each and every person who gathered to honor the people of Ukraine, and to everyone who joined their local rallies around the world in honor of Ukrainian Independence Day. As we stand united, we can continue to help people and save lives, and bring Ukraine closer to victory.
