Diary of War. Women

Add to calendar

We are honored to announce our collaboration with Daria Kolomiec – renowned Ukrainian cultural activist, creator and producer of the “Diary of War” documentary project. Since the summer of 2022, Daria has been volunteering between Kyiv and New York City, where she talks about and shows Ukrainian culture to Americans, raising money to support Ukraine. Time magazine included Daria in its list of Next Generation Leaders for her cultural work. Daria brings documentary stories of Ukrainians in the Russian war to New York theater stages, where they are read by American actors. We partner to bring Daria’s “Diary of War. Women” benefit reading to another stage and raise funds for a good cause.

On November 18, Bedlam Theater will host this poignant benefit reading, where American actresses will give voice to the real stories of Ukrainian women impacted by Russia’s invasion. Through Daria’s project, “Diary of War,” and her dedication to capturing Ukraine’s lived experiences, these narratives offer a unique window into the resilience of Ukrainian women amidst unimaginable hardship.

Directed by Musa Gurnis, “Diary of War. Women” shares the stories of seven brave women, from frontline medics to war correspondents and those forced to flee their homes. Each account is brought to life through the voices of talented American actresses, inviting audiences to connect with the personal sacrifices and unbreakable spirit of the original diaries’ narrators.

This event is not only a tribute to Ukraine’s strength but a meaningful contribution toward life-saving support. 100% of the proceeds will fund United Help Ukraine’s medical aid program, to provide necessary supplies for Hospitallers, a Ukrainian volunteer organization delivering critical battlefield medical care and evacuations. Since 2014, Hospitallers have saved over 17,000 lives, and with your support, we continue this essential work.

Join us on November 18 at Bedlam for a performance that unites cultures, honors resilience, and makes a real difference for individuals defending Ukraine today.
