November 4–22, 2026
Dupont Underground | Washington, DC
Following its critically acclaimed, sold-out January performances, The Trumpeter returns to Dupont Underground for 13 performances this November!
United Help Ukraine is proud to once again partner with Alliance for New Music-Theatre and Ukraine House to bring this powerful Ukrainian story to audiences in Washington, DC.
Written by Ukrainian playwright Inna Goncharova and directed by János Szász, The Trumpeter is an immersive theatrical experience inspired by the siege of Mariupol in 2022. Set in the bunker-like tunnels of Dupont Underground, the production combines live trumpet music, Ukrainian choral voices, and powerful performances to explore the human cost of Russia’s war against Ukraine, resilience, and the will to survive.
The production returns with its original cast, including Michael Kevin Darnall and Lise Bruneau, trumpeter Kevin McKee, and a Ukrainian men’s vocal ensemble led by Ruslan Bondar.
United Help Ukraine Photography Exhibition
Alongside the performances, United Help Ukraine will present an expanded photography exhibition featuring the work of photojournalist Allan Mestel. Building on the exhibition presented during the January run, the display will offer a deeper look at the lives of Ukrainians affected by Russia’s war, highlighting their resilience and the ongoing humanitarian needs across the country.
Together, the theatrical production and photography exhibition connect the stories portrayed on stage with the realities Ukrainians continue to face every day.
As Russia’s war continues, sharing Ukrainian stories remains essential to raising awareness, building understanding, and keeping Ukraine in the public conversation.
Join us for a powerful theatrical and visual experience that brings the stories of Ukraine to life.
