January 22–February 1, 2026
Dupont Underground, Washington, DC
Starting January 22nd, United Help Ukraine will join Alliance for New Music-Theatre, the New Music Theatre Project, and the Embassy of Ukraine for The Ukrainian Project, an immersive theatrical experience set beneath the city at Dupont Underground.
At its core is The Trumpeter’s Mariupol Underground Experience, a new play by Ukrainian playwright Inna Goncharova, directed by János Szász. Inspired by the steelworks beneath Mariupol during the 2022 siege, the production blends live trumpet music, Ukrainian voices, and immersive staging to reflect on war, survival, and the power of art.
United Help Ukraine will also present a photo exhibit by Photojournalist Allan Mestel, connecting visual storytelling with UHU’s humanitarian work across Ukraine.
On January 31, UHU President Maryna Baydyuk will join each screening for a powerful discussion with the audience, “Defending Ukraine: A Live Conversation”—sharing firsthand stories of Ukraine’s defenders, their extraordinary courage, the challenges they face, and the true cost of protecting civilian lives.
Join us for an immersive experience that brings Ukrainian stories and voices into focus.
