The 80th UN General Assembly (UNGA) is underway in New York City, and President Zelenskyy and Ukraine’s diplomatic team are making sure the world hears Ukraine’s voice.
Global leaders continue to highlight Ukraine’s resilience against Russia’s brutal war of aggression. After meeting with President Zelenskyy, President Trump noted that Ukraine, with international support, is in a position to defend its territory and prevail, reflecting the determination and courage of the Ukrainian people.
The world is also focused on Russia’s crimes against children and families, including the abduction of nearly 20,000 Ukrainian children and the targeting of schools and universities. UHU representatives attended side events at UNGA to highlight urgent issues related to Ukraine’s youth.
As one Ukrainian teacher expressed, “I want books for my students, not bombs.” Despite deliberate attacks that have damaged or destroyed 1 in 7 schools, teachers continue teaching, and children continue learning.
At United Help Ukraine, we are committed to supporting educators and students. Through SMUHA, we support the mental health of children and families. In addition, we equip underground learning centers, supply school bomb shelters with educational materials, and provide backpacks with essentials for children in need.
Victory depends on our collective efforts. Governments, organizations, and individuals all have a role in maintaining pressure until Ukraine prevails — so peace, rebuilding, and a secure future can begin. Continue standing with the people of Ukraine.
Today, United Help Ukraine participated in important events at the 80th United Nations General Assembly, including a panel on education in Ukraine organized by Nova Ukraine, Освіторія, Постійне представництво України при ООН / Permanent Mission of Ukraine to the UN, and the Permanent Mission of Lithuania to the UN.
We are grateful for the invitation and for the powerful keynote address by First Lady Olena Zelenska, which underscored the critical importance of education in wartime. One Ukrainian teacher’s words spoke volumes: “I want books for my students, not bombs.”
Despite deliberate attacks that have destroyed 1 in 7 schools, teachers continue teaching, and children continue learning. At United Help Ukraine, we are committed to supporting these educators and students, providing the books, supplies, and resources they need to keep hope and learning alive—even in bomb shelter classrooms.
We also thank President Володимир Зеленський and Ukraine’s diplomatic team for amplifying Ukraine’s voice on the global stage. Together, we stand for education, resilience, and the future of Ukraine.
We were honored to join President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and First Lady Олена Зеленська for this important meeting with the Ukrainian community at the Ukrainian Institute of America, just after the UNGA event.
President Zelenskyy emphasized the importance of amplifying Ukraine’s voice, strengthening international support, and honoring the sacrifices of those defending Ukraine. Together, we discussed our joint efforts to achieve a just and lasting peace in Ukraine.
A heartfelt thank you to the Embassy of Ukraine in the USA / Посольство України в США for organizing this gathering, and to the Ukrainian Institute of America for hosting it.
United, we save more lives.
