For the past month, United Help Ukraine has closely been working with Father Леонід Доценко, an Orthodox Priest in a small village near Zhmerinka in the Vinnytsia Region in Ukraine, to provide desperately needed humanitarian aid for internally displaced individuals.
Father Leonid reached out to United Help Ukraine for assistance and we were happy to help. We sent the organization headed by Father Leonid a grant to provide 347 Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) with food, hygiene products, clothes, and additional supplies for children, toddlers, and babies.
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russian troops into Ukraine, his community has been helping those in need: families of internally displaced migrants, the military and their families. They found empty houses in their village and helped displaced individuals from Kyiv, Sumy, Chernihiv, Kharkiv, Mariupol, Krematorsk, Popasna and other cities of active fighting seek shelter in these homes. These are people who have lost everything: family, friends, home and work.
We were more than happy to help Father Leonid and his organization with this important work. These individuals were so grateful for the humanitarian aid in a time where these everyday supplies are difficult to access and often very expensive if they are available. We thank Father Leonid for his amazing work, and we are especially grateful for our supporters who have allowed us to continue providing humanitarian aid for the citizens of Ukraine.
