SUNDAY, 4:00 PM: Vigil for Ukraine at the White House

WASHINGTON, D.C. – On Sunday, March 13, at 4:00 p.m., United Help Ukraine and U.S. Ukrainian Activists will host a vigil at the White House to commemorate the innocent people killed by Russia’s war in Ukraine, call attention to the humanitarian catastrophe unfolding, and honor those who are defending Ukraine right now. More information about the vigil is available here.

Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine began, thousands of peaceful people have been killed, including 78 children, and thousands injured. Tens of thousands of civilians in Ukraine have been left without food, water, power, or heat and turned more than 2 million Ukrainians into refugees, according to the United Nations. Across the country, women and children are on the front lines, protecting democracy and the free world from Russian bombs. According to UNICEF, the lives of 5.2 million children are endangered because of the war.

Scheduled speakers at the vigil include Oleksandra Ustinova, a member of the Ukrainian Parliament representing the Holos Party and serves as a member of the Parliamentary Committee on Law Enforcement; Olesya Ostafieva, a pregnant Ukrainian refugee who fled her home in Kyiv so she could safely deliver her child in New York, NY; and more.
