On Friday, June 7, United Help Ukraine presented a check for $17,000 to Support Hospitals in Ukraine for shipping medical equipment to Irpin Military Hospital in Ukraine.
Back in November 2018, UHU announced a new and exciting partnership with “Support Hospitals in Ukraine” to deliver a 40-ft container of medical equipment and supplies to Irpin Military Hospital, Kyiv Oblast. The goal was to raise money to cover shipment of specific medical items such as Intensive Care Unit equipment, advanced diagnostic equipment and tools, cardiac and general surgery supplies that are urgently needed at this medical facility to achieve adequate diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation services for wounded Ukrainian soldiers and civilians.
Today, we are happy to report that UHU has collected over $17,000 for this project. About $10,000 came from the proceeds of two concerts in commemoration of “Heavenly Hundred” that took place in February of 2018 and 2019 at the Embassy of Ukraine in the USA. Ukrainian folk musicians, Solomia Gorokhivska and Andrei Pidkivka (duo Gerdan), and pianist Pavel Gintov performed pro bono to help with this initiative. Their incredible talents and astounding musical performances wowed the audience and were received with standing ovations. The two concerts were co-sponsored by the Embassy of Ukraine in the USA that provided significant logistical and financial support.
UHU was able to raise the remaining sum via Facebook donations, Facebook match on #GivingTuesday, PayPal transfers, and checks. This project was also sponsored by Michigan ceramics artists, who provided their art works for sale. UHU is very grateful to so many individual supporters who generously donated to this fundraiser.
Support Hospitals in Ukraine and the UHU representative will now oversee the loading of the container with large medical equipment and supplies for the Irpin hospital, which will take place on Friday, June 14th at Project C.U.R.E. facility in Denver, CO.
Since 2014, “Support Hospitals in Ukraine” in collaboration with many donors and partners in the USA, Canada, and Ukraine, has successfully delivered to Ukraine 4 containers worth $2.4 million! These achievements were recognized by Ukrainian and International communities and received numerous awards but most importantly medical equipment delivered to Ukrainian hospitals helped and continues to help saving lives of Ukrainian people. And now UHU is proud to make a significant contribution to this noble cause!
We truly believe that this cargo will have the most valuable impact on the lives of many wounded soldiers and injured civilians, who will receive quick and reliable diagnoses and better treatment using advanced medical equipment.
